Who operates OffCampus
OffCampus is an independent student accommodation discovery platform operating in Zimbabwe. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to [email protected].
Information we collect
Landlord accounts include name, email, phone number, WhatsApp number, account dates, and verification status. Listings include property descriptions, prices, locations, coordinates, photos, amenities, availability, and contact details. We also store verification documents, manual payment references, reports, and WhatsApp/call/share click events. Firebase and hosting services may process technical device, browser, IP, security, and diagnostic metadata needed to deliver and protect the service.
How information is used
We use information to authenticate landlords and admins, publish approved listings, calculate campus distance, moderate reports, review payments and verification submissions, prevent abuse, provide support, and understand aggregate contact activity. OffCampus does not process student rent or deposits.
Public and private information
Approved listing content, photos, location descriptions, prices, and landlord contact details are public. Verification documents, admin notes, payment records, and user profiles are restricted to the submitting landlord and authorised admins as applicable. Students can browse without an account and may provide optional contact details when reporting a listing.
Infrastructure and sharing
OffCampus uses Google Firebase services for authentication, database storage, file storage, hosting, and operational logs. Information may be disclosed when required by Zimbabwean law, to protect users or the service, or to service providers acting on our instructions. We do not claim that internet storage is risk-free.
Retention and deletion
Listing, payment, report, click, and audit records may be retained for moderation, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute handling, and legal purposes after a listing is removed. Verification documents are retained only while reasonably needed for verification and related disputes. Landlords may request account or document deletion at [email protected]; legal, security, payment, and audit records may be retained where necessary.
Safety and choices
OffCampus helps students discover accommodation listings, but students should physically view the property and confirm details before paying rent or deposit. Users may decline optional report contact details and may disable browser permissions such as device location.
